Sue Buzzeo is married to Mark and has 4 children and 2 step-children. She also is a grandmother to 5 grandchildren aged 25 down to 1 years old. She was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and despite having lived in Chile, France, Malaysia, Henley-on-Thames and York she now has moved back to her roots, in Newcastle in the United Kingdom.
She started her career in retail management at John Lewis; then moved to personnel management at Hartwell plc; operational management with Great North Eastern Railway; and finally project management and programme management with the Civil Service. She has loved all aspects of her working life, especially the ability to implement change and help members of her team realise their individual goals.
She is a remarkable woman whose story of strength and perseverence has inspired many. Diagnosed with breast cancer, Sue faced surgery, chemotherapy and life-chancing challenges while still being a mother, friend and professional. She received her first diagnosis in 2004 and finished her treatment in 2010. In 2019 following 3 bouts of pancreatitis, she heard the devastating news that her breast cancer had returned in her bones. It is now also in both her lungs as well as in her spine, both hips, right and left ribs, her sacrum and her left femur. She started her '3rd line of treatment' of chemotherapy, vinorelbine.
Through faith, humour and an unshakable will to live, she found a way to embrace life's toughest moments and turn them into a message of hope. Her writing is raw, honest and uplifting - making her not just an author, but a voice of courage for anyone facing adversity.
